Elizabeth Ann Lally

Elizabeth “Betty” Lally, 93 years old, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on May 6th, 2022. Born on September 19th, 1928 to Florence and Frank Madden of Manchester, NH, she was the oldest of three siblings, all who she adored; Kathleen White, Marilyn McCloskey and brother Robert Madden.

Betty was a top student, graduating from Manchester Central High class of 1945. Her love of learning, reading with her book club and studying history carried with her throughout her life. Betty was known to her family as having a rapier wit, a sharp memory and always being the source of truth, whether for family history or world history, up until her passing.

With her husband John, whom she married in 1952, they created an eclectic clan of offspring and grandchildren that surrounded her and provided her with great entertainment and comfort. She had a few different occupations, but her real joy was being around her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children; Linda Lally, Jane Lally, Susan Lally, Christopher Lally and his wife Lisa, and Cathleen Lally; sister, Marilyn McCloskey; eight grandchildren, Christine Lally, Alexander Fossella, Rachel Young, Patrick Lally, Ryan Lally, Spencer Lally, Evyn Lally and Mia Lally, all who affectionately called her “Nana.” Betty will be deeply missed and remain forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will take place at McHugh Funeral Home located at 283 Hanover Street in Manchester, NH 03104 on Monday, May 16th, 2022 from 9:00am-11:00am with a service beginning at 11:00am.
