With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Coughlin and Cullen family announce the passing of Helen Catherine Coughlin, of Manchester, NH. Helen passed away of natural causes on August 16, 2023, at 87 years old.
Helen was born on February 13, 1936 to Peter and Blanche Coughlin, in Manchester, NH. After attending West High School in Manchester, NH, Helen pursued multiple professions; she spent time working in a law office, as a bank teller, an assembler, and perhaps one of her favorites- barkeep and Treasurer of the Socialite Singles! Helen’s longtime love and talent of sewing also shined through in her work as a seamstress throughout most of her life. Helen’s most prideful job of all was raising her three sons, whom she shared with her previous husband, Robert Cullen (deceased), of Bedford, NH.
Helen was predeceased by her youngest son, Dennis Cullen, of Harrisburg, VA; her sister Pauline Rodman, of VA; her brother, James Coughlin, and his wife Cecile Coughlin, of Manchester, NH; and her sister, Patricia Coulombe, of Manchester, NH.
Helen was survived by her children, Michael Cullen of Plymouth, MA; Kenneth Cullen, and his wife, Michele, of Nashua, NH; Daughter-in-law, Marlyn Cullen, of Harrisburg, VA; her brother, Roger Coughlin, and his wife, Marion, of Brentwood, NH; her sister, Lorraine Gagnon of Zephyr Hills, FL ; her grandchildren, Tia and Jeremy Parr, of Andover, NH; Ryan Cullen, of Conway, AR; Joshua Cullen, of Plymouth, MA; Eric and Jamie Cullen, of Hillsboro, NH; Robert and Tanya Cullen of Oahu, HI; Courtney and John Jarvis, of Concord, NH.
She always beamed with pride to tell anyone and everyone that she had 11 great grandchildren: Rachel Parr, Haylee Parr, Andrew Parr, Hannah Parr, Emma Cullen, Gavin Cullen, Brycen Cullen, Jace Jarvis, Iris Cullen, Thomas Cullen and Finn Jarvis.
Helen was also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Sandra Caron, of Goffstown, NH and Cathy Weitecha, of Manchester, NH.
Helen spent much of her free time tending to her many plants, sewing and knitting (she spent lots of time making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren!), reading mystery novels, going for walks, and attending church. Helen’s true passion was genealogy, which she always said she wished she had discovered earlier in her life because she would have loved to turn it into a full time career!
