Janice Ann Demers Young

Janice Ann Young, 75, of Virginia Beach, VA, died September 11 2014 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Manchester on February 12, 1939, the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Bryan) Demers. She grew up in Manchester and was educated in the Queen City School System. She lived in Manchester and raised her family here but relocated to Virginia Beach in 2004 to live with her daughter.

She was a wonderful homemaker who loved caring for her children and was also briefly employed at Pandora Industries. Janice loved the outdoors and the time she spent traveling and camping with her family. She was an avid Bingo player who was always ready to try her luck. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years James G. Young Sr. in January 1992.

Members of her family include her two sons James G. Young Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Bristol, PA and Patrick Young and his wife Anna of Manchester, her three daughters Joy Gregoire and her husband Edward of Virginia Beach, VA, Deborah Torres of Nashua and Mary Trinko and her husband Carl of Bristol, PA, her 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her brother Henry Demers and his wife Mary and her sisters Barbara McDonald and Shirley Reno and her husband George all of New Hampshire as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday September 18 from 4 to 8PM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday September 19 at 10AM at St. Pius X Church 575 Candia Rd. in Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Janice’s name to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 275 Chestnut St. Room 515 Manchester, NH 03101.
