John H. Smalley Sr.

He was born on April 1, 1918 in Bridgeport, PA, the son of Charles and Florence Smalley. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. John was the owner of Smalley Lumber Company of Hooksett which was operated by family members including his grandson Gilbert Robinson Jr. until his retirement in the late 1980’s.

He was pre deceased by his wife, Maryann (McQueeney) Smalley on Feb. 2, 1984 and by two children, Edna Marshall and Florence Renfrew.

John is survived by a daughter, Maryann Robinson of Lee, NH; a son, John H. Smalley Jr. of Okeechobee, FL; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren.

Following cremation, a Memorial Ceremony was held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 30th at Shaw Memorial Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford. Urn burial in the family lot with military honors followed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110. The McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., Manchester is assisting the family with arrangements.
