

Marcel G. Compagna, 82, of Merrimack, died January 29, 2014 at his home after a short illness. He was born in Manchester on October 7, 1931 the son Joseph and Angeline (Sevigny) Compagna. He grew up in the Queen City and was a graduate of St. Anthony High School and St. Anselm College.
He was a US Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed his career as a computer specialist with the Air Force, the US Army and NASA and later the Department of Transportation in Cambridge Ma. He enjoyed his retirement job as a driver with Peter’s Auto of Nashua until age 80.
Marcel was a member of the DAV #1, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and the Pointer Fish and Game Club of Bedford.
He enjoyed the outdoors – ice fishing, snowmobiling, spending time at the beaches in New Hampshire and Florida. He loved his daily walks in the neighborhood, and his weekly visits with friends at the local diner and the gym. He will be remembered for his smile and love of life. His family will remember Marcel as loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.
Members of his family include his wife of 58 years Dorothy Compagna of Merrimack, his son Michael Compagna and his wife Roberta of Bedford, his three grandchildren Ashley Compagna, Alexis Compagna and Jacob Compagna all of Bedford, his two brothers Ralph Compagna and his wife Vicki of Hooksett and Andre Compagna and his wife Norma of York, ME and his four sisters Anita Staples and Aura Walsh both of Cape Coral, FL, Irene Egan of Manchester and Cecile Sullivan and her husband Robert of Bedford as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his daughter Diane Compagna in 1973, his brother Robert Compagna and his sister Estelle Tessier.
A Memorial Service was celebrated on Tuesday February 4 at 9:30AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church 16 Baboosic Lake Rd in Merrimack. Urn burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marcel’s name to the Elliot Hospital Radiology Department One Elliot Way, Manchester, NH 03103.The family has entrusted the McHugh Funeral Home with his care.
