

Mildred May (Mitchell) Caron, 93, passed away August 16, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. She was born on September 22, 1919, the daughter of Eugene Horace Mitchell and Ernestine Clara (Goulet) Mitchell. She was a lifelong resident of the Queen City and attended St. Anthony School where she was a member of its first High School graduating class in 1938. She was married to Raymond W. Caron on April 20, 1940.
“Millie” was a talented homemaker who enjoyed sewing outfits and knitting hats, mittens and sweaters for her six children. She was especially known for the fabulous array of homemade pies and baked goods she made at Thanksgiving. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she never failed to send birthday cards and letters to her many grandchildren. She was a history buff and an avid reader of books and newspapers, scouring them from end to end. She enjoyed word and card games and was always ready for a challenging game of Rummikub.
She was a proud member of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Molly Stark Chapter as well as a twenty year member of the Sweeney Post Chapter #2 Ladies Auxiliary. She was always quick to share her Christian faith and her love of Jesus with her family and friends not only in words, but in the way she lived her life. Her loved ones came to depend upon the many prayers she offered for them.
She was predeceased by her husband Ray in 1999 and by her sisters Frances Allard and Florence Gilman and her brother Roger Mitchell.
Members of her family include her three daughters Elaine Landry and her husband Bob of Roanoke VA, Phyllis Gagnon and her husband Roland and Leslie Tsiorbas and her husband Dennis all of Manchester, her three sons Raymond Caron and his wife Jeanine of Hillsboro, Denis Caron and Marc Caron and his wife Pam all of Manchester, her 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday August 19 from 4 to 7PM at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St in Manchester. A Memorial Service was held at 6PM in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday August 20 at 10AM in St. Anthony Church 172 Belmont St. Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
