He was born on May 30, 1941 to Ralph Sargent and Clara (Barrett) Sargent in Manchester, NH, where he was also raised and lived his entire life.
Peter attended Manchester Central High School and graduated in 1960. He was in the grocery/produce industry from the age of 16 until retirement at age 77. His longest held position was as a Warehouse Manager for DeFrancesco & Sons Produce in Salem, MA for over 30 years.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and especially being Papa Pete to his grandchildren. He enjoyed classic cars, listening to Elvis, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots (among other local teams). He also enjoyed spending time outside grilling, detailing his car, and doing various wood working projects. One of his favorite past times was going out to eat; especially for hot dogs.
Peter most recently celebrated 20 years as a cancer survivor.
In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sister Sally (Sargent) Lawlor.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Donna (Souther) Sargent; his children Keith Sargent and wife Lisa of Florida, Kenneth Sargent and wife Felicia of Texas, Kristen Hamel and husband Christopher of Vermont, Katelyn Royer and husband Daniel of New Hampshire; seven grandchildren Lianna, Austen, Jaxson, Clem, Cheyenne, Kyle & Ryan; and many loving family and friends.
A celebration of life gathering for Peter will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the various medical professionals over the years who helped contribute to Peter’s health and well-being.
