Born on February 12, 1943, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Rick was the son of the late Manuel and Florinda (Fernandes) Sylvia.
Rick dedicated 45 years of his career as a machinist at Felton Brush. In retirement, Rick found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed reading The Union Leader, collecting antiques, and especially spending his summers at Hampton Beach.
Rick is survived by his five children: Debra, Linda, Richard Jr., Robert, and John; his 13 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Eleanor; his nephew, Paul Jr.; and his longtime companion, Eileen McCarthy.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his brother, Paul.
