Doris was born February 17, 1929, in Newburgh, NY, to Louis and Lillian Harris. She was one of nine children. She had two brothers, Louie and Robert; and six sisters, Beverly, Jackie, Sandy, Ruth, Shirley and Mabel.
She attended NFA High School. She started to work at the PLS Coat Factory in Newburgh and remained there until she married in June of 1946.
Doris cared for total of 53 foster children over her lifetime. She was also the neighborhood babysitter, caring for her family and neighbors children.
Doris moved to New Jersey in 2021 to be closer to her son Frank. She enjoyed her visits from Frank, watching the Hallmark Channel and doing arts and crafts.
Doris married Frank D. Williams Sr. on June 1, 1946. Together, they had two sons, Frank Jr. and Charles.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank, her son Charles and Grandson F. Daniel 3rd. She is survived by her son Frank and his wife Linda, and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
