Eugene Gokey

Eugene J.”Gene” Gokey, 79, of Toms River, NJ, passed away at home on Sunday November 1, 2015. Born in Elizabeth, Gene lived in Edison for over 35 years before moving to Toms River 20 ago. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Gene worked for Thomas & Betts for 35 years and retired in 1993. He coached baseball in the North Edison Little League for 25 years, was an avid golfer, loved the beach, but his children and his grandchildren were his greatest joy. The patriarch and protector of his family, he will be greatly missed.

Gene is predeceased by his grandson Chase Olsen. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Theresa (nee Veneri), his children Kevin Gokey and his wife Christine of Bridgewater, NJ, Mark Gokey of South Plainfield, NJ, Maureen Olsen and her husband Kyle of Jackson, NJ, Michael Gokey and his wife Joanne of Ringoes, NJ, and his cherished grandchildren Alyssa, Morgan, Quinn, Jack, Christina, Amanda and Aidan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 3, 2015, from 4-8pm, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday November 4, 2015, at Saint Luke’s RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Cremation will be private with a burial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to benefit childhood cancer in Gene’s memory to Ocean of Love, 1709 Hwy 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753.
