Joan M. Reed

Joan M. Reed, age 85, of Manchester, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Joan was born in New Bedford, MA, where she grew up before moving to Ansonia, CT, where she attended Nursing School and where she met John H. Reed. When John came back from the Navy, they were married and moved to Levittown, PA, and raised their family. She worked as an RN for several years at Medical Arts PC in Levittown, PA. After they retired, they moved to Manchester 20 years ago. Joan was also a member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of the Chapter in PA.

While living in Leisure Village West, Joan was very active in various clubs, including the Red Hats, Garden, Genealogy, and Travel Clubs, with which she attended many dinner shows. She especially enjoyed her Wednesday nights with the ladies playing Mexican train and other card games.

Joan was predeceased by her husband John H. Reed in 2015. She is survived by her two sons; James L. Reed and his wife Lisa, John A. Reed and his wife Linda, her grandchildren; James L. Reed,II and his wife, Alisha, Zachary Reed and his wife Carly, Stephanie Reed, Brianna Reed, Kaitlyn Reed and Tyler Reed, her great grandchildren; Dominick, Dalton, Wesley, Julianna, Brielle, Fynn and Sawyer. Joan is also survived by her brother George R. Griffiths and his wife Denise, sister in law Nancy King, Ron and Jean Kerr, along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering for Joan will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, followed by a funeral service from 1pm to 1:30 pm.
