

Joseph J. Gottschalk passed away on April 16, 2026 at the age of 82. Born in Brooklyn, New York on December 12, 1943. He graduated Catholic School and started a career as a truck driver with the Teamsters. He was offered a position with Bristol-Myers Squibb, which lead his wife, Nancy and two daughters, Tina and Vanessa to New Jersey.
Joseph was fortunate enough to enjoy his retirement to the fullest. He was known for his humor, reliability, and his unwavering devotion to his family. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and beloved uncle. He was the kind of hardworking man you could always count on under any circumstance. He had a way of making people laugh even in difficult moments and he showed his love not just in words, but through actions. Whether it was lending a hand offering support or simply being present, he would do anything for anyone, especially his family.
He found great joy in life‘s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, going to the beach, father’s Day tradition at Monmouth racetrack, golfing and taking trips to Atlantic City with his wife, Nancy. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing cards with his family and gathering around the table for family dinners, where laughter and stories were always shared.
He is predeceased by his devoted wife, Nancy, his parent’s, Joseph and Anna Gottschalk and his sister, Mary Ann Millar.
He is survived by his daughter’s, Tina Seebeck and Vanessa Borio. Also his loving son in law, Larry Borio. His cherished grandchildren, Justin Seebeck and Gina Tomaro, Jake Seebeck and Fiance Gwen Garvey and Lorenzo Borio, his sisters-in-law, Marilyn, Kirk, and Francine Colucci, and her husband Charles, and his nieces and nephews and their families; Melissa and Bill Mcelrea, Stephanie Kirk, Rick, Cardo & Chloe, Dennis Kirk, Donna, Tim, and Ryan Connelly, Ronnie Millar and Joanne Millar.
Joseph will be remembered with respect and gratitude. For the life, he built, the traditions he upheld, the core family values that he installed and the enduring love he gave to his family. May you rest in peace, Papa.
