Ruth Vigilante

Ruth Vigilante, 90, of Manchester Twp. passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9th, 2022 in Lakewood Twp. She was born in Mt. Tabor, NJ, on May 5th, 1931. Ruth met her sweetheart, Anthony, were married and settled in Basking Ridge, NJ to start their family; they were married for 62 years. Together they had two children, Gary and Donna. They lived in Basking Ridge for 30 years until relocating to Leisure Ridge in Manchester Twp. They were one of the first residents of this community and Ruth was a proud trustee for many years. It is here that both Ruth and Anthony stayed for some 30 years until their passing. Ruth enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. She took great pride in raising her two children and often caring for her grandchildren. One of Ruth's greatest accomplishments was taking excellent care of her husband Anthony during his last years of declining health. Ruth lived a full and independent life up until her passing. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Ruth is survived by her two children, son, Dr. Gary Vigilante and his wife, Noreen, of Pennsylvania and her daughter, Donna Steiermann and her husband, Fred, of Florida. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael and his wife Rachel, David, Victoria, Erin and her husband Colby, Ricky, Christopher, Jillian and Joshua and great grandchild, Wesley. A viewing for Ruth will be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2022, from 8:00 am to 8:30 am at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ 08759. A mass will immediately follow at 9:00 am at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 619 Chestnut St., Lakehurst, NJ. Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband Anthony at 11:30 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in memory of Ruth to St. Jude's Children Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate.
