
Albert V. Bechtler, age 82, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010. He was also known by the nicknames of Al, Hoagy and Goater. A lifelong resident of Mansfield, he was born April 6, 1927 to Louise and Victor Bechtler. Al was the owner of Northwest Construction Company, which provided general contracting and commercial roofing services. He had a lifelong love of sports including hockey, baseball, bowling and especially golf. Al enjoyed sharing these interests with his family and was a Little League coach and umpire. He attended the Apostolic Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lou Bechtler, whom he married on March 24, 1956. He is also survived by two daughters, Laurie Bechtler Todd Egan of California and Lisa Don MacMillen of California; a son, Mark Holly Logue Bechtler of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Hayley, Alec, Andrew and Connor MacMillen and Glenn and Cara Bechtler; sister, Margaret Bechtler of Mansfield; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Bechtler, Emy Krstich and Florence Krstich, all of Mansfield; brother-in-law, Walter Margo Krstich of California; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Jim Bechtler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
