
Albert Betz, 81, of Mansfield, died Friday, November 14, 2008, at the Apostolic Village Nursing Home in Rittman. Born September 14, 1927, in Mansfield, he was the son of Anton and Olga Getz Betz. A veteran of the United States Army, Al had been a carpenter along with his father and was owner/operator of Al Betz Hardware. After the sale of his hardware, he worked part time for Boliantz Hardware. He was a volunteer for Mansfield General Hospital Hospice for 15 years and drove school bus for the Mansfield City Schools for over 20 years. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church where he sang in the church choir and loved to drive, being available to chauffer at any time.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Auer Betz; a daughter, Barbara Zoltan Szabados of Windsor, Canada; four grandchildren, Rebecca Sam Delic of Toronto, Canada, Steve Ivana Szabados of Windsor Canada, Thomas Rebecca Szabados of Toledo, OH and Michael Szabados of Windsor, Canada; three great grandchildren, Juliana, Mikayla and Judah; two brothers, Clifford Evelyn Betz and Roger Geraldine Betz both of Mansfield; five sisters, Alice Ebinger, Esther Vogel, Joann Ed Boliantz, Viola Mike Bartoff and Linda Peter Webel all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Irene Pamer Betz.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008, at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield, conducted by Marc Contrascere. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church Memorial Fund in Al's memory.
