Beatrice Nelson

Beatrice O. Nelson, age 97, of Mansfield, died Monday morning August 9, 2004 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mrs. Nelson was born June 15, 1907 in Coshocton County living in the Mansfield area for the past 77 years. She was a member of Caesarea Church. Beatrice was the maker of beautiful afghans. She made well over 200 afghans for family, friends and even strangers. She was an incredible woman. She didn't have a 'favorite' daughter. She didn't have a 'favorite' grandchild. She didn't have a 'favorite' friend. She had LOVE enough to blanket us all, FORGIVENESS to overlook our faults. She had the STRENGTH to care for her husband, Fred, during fifteen years of illness and never made it seem like a burden. She had LAUGHTER to make us smile, KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM to guide us. She had COURAGE to leave us knowing the family would bond together and watch over one another. She will be greatly missed, but she leaves us with these traits and 97 years of fond memories for family and friends to share.

Surviving are two daughters & a son-in-law, Naomi Ransom and Betty & Donovan Smith all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Gary Chronister, Keith & his spouse, Jane Ransom, Gregory & his spouse, Debra Smith, David & his spouse, Teresa Ransom, Paula Sue & her spouse, George Hess, Gail & her spouse, Dan Klatka and Richard Ransom; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Nelson; her parents, Sanford & Elsie Walters McClain, a son-in-law, Paul Ransom, two brothers, Floyd & Ronald McClain; a sister, Bernice Hoover; a grandson, Michael Chronister; and two great-grandchildren, Infant Chronister twins.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Michael Workman. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Caesarea Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
