Bertha Inez Peyton, age 85 years old, was born December 25, 1925 in Olive Hill Kentucky. She died Monday, February 21, 2011 at home with family. With only a second grade education and familiar with hard work, Bertha found many creative ways to supplement farm income through the years by selling eggs and milk and buying and selling at garage sales, giving all she could to family and friends. She cooked countless meals for family, loved ones and strangers, and was both a great giver and forgiver. A member of First Alliance Church in Mansfield, Bertha will always be remembered as a praying mother whose greatest legacy is having a family who children and grandchildren know and love the Lord.
She is survived by four sons, Rev. Claude Martha Peyton of Kosciusco, MS, Leslie Peyton of Mansfield, Rev. Doyle Jane Peyton of Mansfield, and Jerry Kathy Peyton of Mansfield; one daughter, Ada Rev. Jeff Lord of East Canton, Ohio; one son-in-law, Rev. Kenneth Schultz of Vermillion; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Peyton; daughter, Lois Schultz; and step son, Rev. Kenneth Fugate of Oliver Springs, TN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, conducted by her son, Rev. Doyle Peyton. Friends may call prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Springmill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Adult Daycare.
