Bertha Lee Taylor, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home by God on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 85. She passed away at home of natural causes surrounded by her beloved family.
Bertha was born February 21, 1940, in Malvina, Mississippi to Quentice Taylor and Rosie (Gibson) Taylor. She moved to Ohio and resided in Mansfield for over 65 years and had held several jobs.
Bertha loved fishing, playing cards, and loved watching black and white westerns on T.V. She loved cooking soul food for her family and friends. She loved to laugh and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But most of all she loved her family, and she loved the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Gloria J. Taylor and Doris J. Harper; two sons, Oscar Lee Taylor and Romanual Cassie Taylor, all of Mansfield; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Abom Taylor of Shaw, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Latrell Taylor; her parents, Quentice Taylor and Rosie (Gibson) Taylor; two brothers, David L. Taylor and Quentice Taylor; and three sisters, Teacora Pelt, Letha Ann McBride, and Vera Black.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Service will begin at 2:00 PM. Bertha will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery, 389 Altamont Ave., Mansfield, Ohio 44902.
