Betty M. Calderhead Hoffman

Betty M. Calderhead Hoffman, 96, of Mansfield went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born April 25, 1922 in Larkhall, Scotland to David O. and Agnes (MacFarland) Calderhead.

A very important day in Betty's life was when she came to know the Lord as her Savior at eight years old. She traveled by ship from Scotland to the United States when she was nine years old. She married Paul Earl Hoffman on March 20, 1948 and enjoyed 63 years together with him.

Betty obtained a business degree after graduating from high school and lovingly raised her six children. She enjoyed gardening and entertaining, and was industrious, owning and operating various businesses. Later in life, her passion was helping people at her health food store, Barbara Jean’s Nutrition Center.

She is survived by her six children, Barb (Gary) Vanderbilt of Mansfield, Deb (David) Brown of Mansfield, Becky (Derek) Cunningham of Uniontown, OH, Mary (Jack) Coleman of Hatboro, PA, John (Ruth) Hoffman of Mansfield and Cilla (Kevin) Buck of Remindersville, OH; 22 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Earl Hoffman; her parents; her sister, Anna Cunningham; three brothers, Peter, James and David Cunningham; and a great-grandson, Caleb Kube.

Friends may call Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5-8 pm at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St, Mansfield. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, conducted by the family. Burial will follow on Monday, February 4, 2019 in Mansfield Cemetery, we will gather at the cemetery gate, 389 Altamont Ave at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice.
