

Betty J. Rine, 93, of Mansfield, passed away Monday morning, September 26, 2016, at Conard House Assisted Living. She was born November 3, 1922, in Lucas, Ohio, one of nine children of the late Carl and Lucille (Weirick) Hartson.
Betty graduated from Lucas High School in the Class of 1940. Being a part of a large family helped to mold the qualities that made her a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting. Betty was always smiling and was one of the most friendly, caring, generous and thoughtful people you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. She made many friends doing one of her favorite activities-playing Bingo. Betty was a long time member of First English Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Stout of Mansfield and Janet (Bob) Hess of Loudonville, OH; a son, John Rine of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Scott (Laurie) Storch of Delaware, OH, Steven (Christa) Storch of NM, Shannon Stout (fiancée, Hope Thornsberry) of Plymouth, OH, Chrystal (Dennis) Ferris and Michael (Laurie) Rine, both of Mansfield, Kelly Backensto of Marion, OH, and Jodi Meyer of Bailey Lakes, OH; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kara, Lauren, Michaila, Allison, Shealy, Austin, Addison, Cody, Elizabeth, Megan, Courtney, Kennedy, Ethan, Evan, Walter and Cassie; numerous great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Sharman Hartson of Dover, OH.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Rine on June 29, 2005; granddaughter, Desha; great-grandson, Luke; three brothers; and five sisters.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Gregory Bibler, Rev. Sharman Hartson and Rev. Pat Hartson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Mansfield Civitan Club and OhioHealth Mansfield Hospice.
