
Bill Pickens, 62, of Mansfield, died Wednesday evening, March 22, 2006, at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness. Born September 19, 1943, in Mississippi, he was a Mansfield area resident the past 18 years. He was employed at General Motors and loved fishing and hunting. Mr. Pickens was a member of Journey Life Center.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Parker Pickens; six children, Elvis Lori Pickens of Cleveland, Ohio, Theresa David Parham of Detroit, Michigan, Keitheran Cheri Pickens of Clyde, Ohio, Dashanna Favers of Huntsville, Alabama, Antonio Pickens and Trebony Pickens, both of Mansfield; one godchild, Terrell Dorsey; and eight grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Clara Pickens of Sandusky, Ohio; four sisters, Clora Pickens of Waynesboro, Mississippi, Ruby Joseph Coleman and Hatti McDonald, all of Waynesboro, Mississippi, and Winnie Randy Johnson of Bettendorf, Iowa; one uncle, Earl Pickens of Clark County, Mississippi; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Pickens and Netti May Jones Pickens; three brothers, Mayrone, David and Henry Pickens; and three sisters, Ginnie V. Howard, Earnestine Howard, and Helen Smith.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Journey Life Center, 2578 St. Rt. 39, conducted by Pastor Joyce Wolf. Friends and family may call at the church from 9:30-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
