

Bobbie Rucker, 77, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at his home. Born February 11, 1935 in Chattaroy, WV, he was the son of William T. and Helen (Urban) Rucker. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bobbie retired from Peabody Barnes where he worked as a maintenance electrician. He was a reserved and simple man, yet very intelligent. Bobbie liked to go to flea markets and was an outdoor man who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy (Hamman) Rucker of Mansfield; brother, Charles (Helen) Rucker of Mansfield; sister, Pat Rollins of Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Kate Hamman of Shelby, Carl Hamman of Delaware, OH, Betty Mortz of San Diego, CA and Dave Sweet of Lexington, OH; his nephew and his wife, Doug and Barb Sweet, who he received much care and loving comfort from, and whom they lovingly referred to as “Uncle Ornery”; special cousins, Donna Dee Hamman Furr of Charlotte, NC and Gerald (Lois) Hamman of Mansfield; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Rucker; brother, Tommy Rucker; sisters-in-law, Carol Sweet and Esther Hamman; and brothers-in-law, Howard Mortz and Tommy Rollins.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A private burial will be held at a later date at Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
