
Bobby C. Yates, 61, of Mansfield died Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Yates was born March 25, 1941 in Clintwood, Virginia to Hershel and Wealtha Edwards Yates. He was an area resident the past 40 years and was employed as an ironworker with Local 550 Iron Worker's in Canton, Ohio. Bobby enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was fond of all sports, especially boxing and football.
He is survived by four children and their spouses, Jeffery Yates, Tony and Sandra Yates, Donna and Lester Dixon and Robert Yates, all of Mansfield; his mother, Wealtha Edwards Yates Tipton; seven grandchildren, Amy, Matthew, Ashley, Bobby, Amanda, Alexa and Lester, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Akira; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Ray Belcher, Sue and Ked Delaney, all of Mansfield, and Pauline and Larry Jones of Richmond, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Jim Foster of Mansfield; good friends, Ron and Shirley Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Holland Yates; father, Hershel Yates; brother, Gaither Yates; and sister, Betty Yates Foster.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, January 2, 2003 from 12-1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Burnie Sanders. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery.
