Carl Tracey

Carl E. Tracey, 83, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born September 4, 1926 in Zanesville, he was the son of James F. and Mary C. Barnes Tracey. He retired in 1990 from the Mansfield News Journal after 42 years of service as Production Manager of the News Journal and the USA Today. An OSU and Browns fan, he also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and watching his son coach high school football. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, golfing, and hunting. He traveled around the world, including visiting Australia and Africa. Wildlife conservation was also very important to Carl.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Trish Tracey of New Washington; one daughter and son-in-law, Vikki and Larry Eckert of Lexington; four grandchildren, Lisa and Jill Tracey, Dave Ellen Eckert, and Traci Eric Lewin; two great-grandchildren, Emily Stroble, and Ryan Carl Eckert; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Helen Tracey of Stockport; one sister, Gladys Shaeffer of Zanesville; sister-in-law, Avril Tracey of Tyler, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ann in 1970; second wife, Karen in 1997; and several brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Gary Miller. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
