Catherine A. Paetsch, 86, of Mansfield passed away peacefully at the Kobacker House on Friday, February 16, 2018 surrounded by her family. Catherine was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 31, 1932 to the late Arthur and Johanna (Wesley) Schreiner.
Catherine was a great mother and grandmother and had a true Christian heart. Many words can describe Catherine, loyal, loving, caring, amazing and generous are just a few. She was a mentor and advocate to many, as people respected her and her opinions. She had a heart for people, was a dedicated friend, and a caregiver. Catherine was a faithful member of Resurrection Parish where she could be found singing in the choir or volunteering on the grief committee luncheons. She was the President of the Christian Women's Association and a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Catherine enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending to her flowers, decorating her home, trips to Port Clinton and just in general socializing. She loved the color blue because it reminded her of Port Clinton and the wonderful summers with friends and family and animals, especially dogs. Catherine lived her life in such a way that she was an example to others.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Lisa Paetsch of Mansfield and Jodi (David) Creighton of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Hanna, Mitchell, Chris (Kelli) and Jason (Alicia) Creighton all of Cincinnati; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Athena, Sean, Jacob, and Jude due in May; and a sister, Barbara Cummings of Tecumseh, MI. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Albert Paetsch; brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Cummings; niece, Cheryl Metzger; and nephew, Craig Cummings.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Rev. Father Nelson Beaver will officiate a Memorial Mass at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Resurrection Parish, 2600 Lexington Avenue Mansfield, OH 44904.
