Catherine Powell

Catherine Powell, age 78, of 270 Spring Street, died Wednesday October 30, 2002 at Griffeth Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Powell was born June 6, 1924 in Florala, Alabama living in the Mansfield area since1945. She retired from Mansfield City Schools, janitorial services. Mrs. Powell was a member of St. Luke Church of God in Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Powell and Sharon Powell both of Mansfield, three sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin & Renetta S. Powell, Jerry & Lucille Powell all of Mansfield and Marcus & Rhonda Powell of Delaware, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tillman & Katie Franklin Sr. of Mansfield and Pete Staley of Albion, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will & Annie Goodin Staley; her husband, Albert Powell; two brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held Monday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the church, conducted by Tillman Franklin Jr. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. Following the service the family will receive friends at the home of the daughter, Sharon Powell, 546 Lida Street.
