
Charles J. King, Jr., 73, of Mansfield died Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2002 at Mifflin Care Center following an extended illness. Mr. King was born June 21, 1928 in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Charles J. Sr. and Inez Irene Tolle King. He was an area resident most of his life and retired in 1989 from White Westinghouse after 39 years of service, most recently as a mill room foreman. Charles enjoyed canning the items he grew in his garden, working in the yard and cooking. He served during WWII with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Marion W. Lewis King; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles J. III and Patricia A. King of Howard, Ohio, and Jesse L. King and girlfriend, Lorie Smith both of Mansfield; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sheila Neighbors of Cardington, Ohio, Patty and Jim Bertka of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Carolyn King Skinner and Richard Skinner of Columbus, Ohio, and Thelma and Kevin Kearns of Mansfield; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse L. King of Glassboro, New Jersey; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Frieda and Howard Liles of Florida, Beatrice Roe of Lexington, Ohio and Maxine Polley of Vanceburg, Kentucky; and his special pal, Odie. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Clark.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, March 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Saturday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Brian Phillips. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
