Charlotte Smith Austin

Charlotte Elizabeth Stone Smith Austin, 89, of Dublin, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at her home in Dublin. She was born December 12, 1916, in Belpre, Ohio. Mrs. Austin graduated Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1941, was a Jennings Scholar at Capital University and served on the Ashland Public Library Board. She was a member of Dublin Presbyterian Church. She taught school for many years in Belpre, Beverly, Lorain and Ashland and tutored many children and adults throughout her life.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca L. Cynthia Smith of Redwood City, Cal., Deborah S. Gary Koch of Dublin; son, Gregory C. Anne Smith of Powell; six grandchildren, Justin, Nan, Jennifer, Whitney, Chip and Lucy; and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Lily. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madge O'Dell and John Sidney Stone; brother, Robert S. Stone; sister, Madeline Gunnett; and husbands, Clifford D. Smith and C. Robert Austin.

A graveside service conducted by Rev. Janice Hilkerbaumer will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1 in Ashland Cemetery. Friends are invited to join family at the Country Club of Ashland, after the service. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
