Christine Shepherd

Christine Carpenter Shepherd, 81, of Shelby, died Friday, February 23, 2008, at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. Born December 9, 1926, in Boyd County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Joseph and Jeanette McMillian Carpenter. A homemaker, she was a member of the Ontario Christian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Gary H. Grace Shepherd of Lyles, TN and Billy Ray Dorothy Shepherd of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Rodney, Kimberly, Jim, Shawn and Jonathan; three step grandchildren, Gregory, Darryl and Jason; seven great grandchildren, Josie, Austin, Jordan, Ashley, Jarrett, Amber and Aidan; five step great grandchildren, Dalyn, Matthew, Grace, Dylan and Colton; one sister, Katherine Konya of Ashland; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Carpenter of Galion and Wanda Carpenter of Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hager Jerome Shepherd, on December 2, 2006; a son, Larry Jerome Shepherd; a granddaughter, Sybil Sue Shepherd; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and William; and three sisters, Evelyn, Lavern and Hazel.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by Randy Allen, Minister of the Ontario Christian Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario Christian Church.
