Christopher Gerhart

Christopher Lee Gerhart, 46, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 19, 2003 in Fredericktown. Chris was born June 23, 1956 in Mansfield to Don Leedy Gerhart and Juanita Kilgore Gerhart Shepherd. He was a graduate of Ontario High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. He was self-employed as a carpenter. Chris was a well-known drummer in the area.

He is survived by a son, Zachariah Joseph Lowery of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Katherine Marie Gerhart, Shayna Lee Gerhart and Skye Lynn Gerhart, all of Mansfield; a stepson, Demiam Blair of Erie, Pennsylvania; and their mother, his companion and friend, Paula Martinez of Mansfield; mother and father, Juanita and William Shepherd of Crestline; two grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Smith; one sister, Connie Lynn Sparks of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; five brothers, Curtis Lloyd Gerhart and his wife, Pamela Jean, of Lexington, Ohio, William Bill Keith Shepherd of Crestline, Richard Alan Shepherd of New Albany, Ohio, Denny Hart and Andy Hart, both of Bellville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Gerhart; paternal grandparents, Dale and Blanche Gerhart; maternal grandmother, Lottie Shaffer; and step-grandmother, Rhoda Shepherd.

A memorial service, conducted by Rus Winn will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one-half hour prior to services. Following the service, a gathering will take place at Dogwood Valley Campground. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
