
Claude J. Stacy, 75, of Mansfield, died Tuesday afternoon, January 13, 2004, at SCCI Hospital. He was born June 29, 1928, in Morehead, Kentucky, to Tom and Dollie Plank Stacy and was a Mansfield area resident the past 47 years. Claude retired from General Motors in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending auctions and working on cars. Claude was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Johnson Stacy; four sons and their spouses, Les Stacy of Mansfield, Tony and Lisa Stacy, Tim and Jenni Stacy and Joe and Amanda Stacy, all of Lucas; a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Tom Esterline of Lucas; eight grandsons, Jake and Josh Hergatt, Timmy, David, Travis and Joseph Stacy, and Justin and David Esterline; five granddaughters, Jessie Evans, Emily and Grace Stacy, and Mariah and Meleah Taylor; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Edith Helterbrand and Jimmy and Ponzell Helterbrand, all of Morehead; a sister-in-law, Linda Stacy of Morehead; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernie, Chester, and Cecil Stacy; infant sister; and stepfather, Les Helterbrand.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, January 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Virgil Masters and Rev. Earl Tackett. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
