Clayton Cole

Clayton H. Cole, 69, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 19, 2012. Born February 20, 1942 in Olive Hill, KY, he was the son of William Allen and Virgie (Dean) Cole. Clayton worked as a crane wright at AK Steel. He was a member of the Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church where he was also a trustee. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #152 F.&A.M. and Scottish Rite 32º, Valley of Canton. Clayton’s hobbies were work and church, but he also enjoyed helping out his neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon M. (Simmons) Cole of Mansfield; daughters, Lora (Bret) Bargo of Shelby and Christina Brown of Mansfield; sons, William Cole, Mark (Melinda) Cole, Sr., and Howard (Kimberly) Cole, Sr., all of Mansfield, and David (Rhonda) Cole, Sr, of Ashland; step daughters, Brenda Ferguson and Jodie Lemaster, both of Mansfield; step sons, Matthew (Melissa) Lemaster of Sandusky; 22 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 9 step great grandchildren; brothers, Willard (Omaga) Cole, Eugene (June) Cole, and Wade (Nancy) Cole, all of Mansfield; sister, Martha Phillips of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step son, Michael Lemaster; brothers, Arthur, Troy, and Chester Cole; sisters, Edna Carrol, Annie Conn, Magdaline Blevens, and infant, Juantia; great grandsons, Mikah Alvie Cole and Kason Thoman; and step great grandson, Carter Michael Deems.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Masonic services will be held at 6:00 p.m. conducted by the Venus Lodge #152. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church, 1169 Mill Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett and Rev. Virgil Masters. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church.
