
Corrine Barnes, 79, a native of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Born July 5, 1926 in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of William and Georgia Terhune Westmoreland. She had worked at the Shelby Depot, Hartman Electric, and Mansfield city school as a teacher's aid for the disabled grade school children. Mrs. Barnes enjoyed dancing and singing, and was very artistic.
She is survived by one son, Gene Barnes of Mansfield; two daughters, Carla Barnes and Delvin Barnes, both of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Carthagenia Jackson of Columbus; grandchildren, Lavenia Barnes of Cleveland, Gene Barnes, Jr. of California, and Corrina Barnes of Parma, and step granddaughter, Michelle Johnson of California; nephews nieces; and 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, James Robert Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Thomas C. Hunt of the Providence Baptist Church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Groups.
