

Danny Edward Barker reached his 66th birthday on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. A survivor and fighter of kidney disease and cancer, he always defied the odds maintaining a zest for life and an infectious sense of humor. He passed away peacefully, with family surrounding him, on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at OSU James Cancer Hospital.
He was born on October 9, 1952, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Delbert Barker and Cloteen Barker. Danny was a 1972 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and later obtained an Associate Degree in computer programming at North Central State College.
Danny met the love of his life, Cindy Buckingham, in the 8th grade and married her on August 31, 1974. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with family and friends-especially the grandkids. Danny lived and breathed music. He had a passion for drumming at an early age and mastered other instruments as well. He was part of the local music scene for many years and always kept his love of music alive.
Danny will be dearly missed by his wife, Cindy; two children, Eric Barker and Allison (James) Feeney; two grandchildren, Eloise and Madeleine Feeney. He is also survived by a brother, Randall (Joan) Barker; three sisters, Connie Mauritz, Barbara (Keith) Barker and Teresa (Chris) Ault; nephews, Randall (Megan) Barker, Gregory (Amanda) Barker, and Aaron Bradshaw; nieces, Kira (Jeffery) Appel, Heather Ault, and Kelly Reaves; great-nephew, Torry Bradshaw; sister-in-law, Martha Stone and family; special friends, Nancy and Ben Raitch and family; as well as many dearly loved family and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Mission Point Church, 54 E. Cook Rd., Mansfield. Rev. David Stone, Danny's nephew, will officiate the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. In memory of Danny and his battle with kidney disease and cancer, donations to the American Cancer Society, 248 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio 44902 or the National Kidney Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43231 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
