

David A. Hipp, 62, of Mansifeld died at home on Saturday, January 8, following a three-year illness. He was born April 7, 1942 to Wilford and Ruth Boughton Hipp. David retired from Empire Detroit Steel Company after 38 years of service. He attended Diamond Hill Cathedral and Citi Church. He also is a member of the Eagles Lodge #336, Owls, American Legion Post 16, and the V.F.W. 3494. David enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and OSU. David loved to be the "prankster" and life of the party. He enjoyed watching his grandkids and loved to make them laugh. He was an active supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. David served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson Hipp, married for 18 years; two sons, Richard Hipp of Mansfield and DAvid and Donna Hipp of Shelby; one daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and David King of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Kandy Hipp of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Devin Hipp, Tyler Hipp, David Wilson Hipp, Haley Niswander, Chase King, David King, Jr., and Bunny King; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sandra Hipp of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Cloyd Wyckoff; and grandparents, Henry and Isar Boughton.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, January 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the fuenral service, which will be conducted by Pastor Micah Pelkey, Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MedCentral Hospice.
