
David Sorensen, 71, of Mansfield, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, at his home. Born July 20, 1938, in Pavonia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Neiles and Margaret Montgomery Sorensen. He attended college at San Jose State and had owned a trucking company with his brother, Neil. David retired from Interstate Optical. He was an avid automobile racing fan and worked on the racing circuit for years. David was very active in youth sports, involved in coaching and was a founding member of the Palm Beach County Youth Football League.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Salsbury of Tampa, FL; three sons, Michael Kelley Sorensen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, David Susan Sorensen of West Palm Beach, FL and Scott Stacy Sorensen of Ft. Lauderdale; a stepdaughter, Korbi Durfee of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Carissa, Krystina, Samantha, Hadley Rose, Michael Christopher Jr., Liana Rose, David Erik Jr. and Emma Beatrice; a sister, Bea Schroeder of Tyler, TX; family friend, Jamie Cushler of Mansfield; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sorensen; parents, a brother, Neil Sorensen and sister, Jane Turner.
Memorial services conducted by Pastor Timothy Storms will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield.
