
David Fess Zody Jr. 'Swede', 83, of Edgewater, Florida died Friday January 2, 2004 at his home. Mr. Zody lived most of his life in the Mansfield area, residing at 2173 Vivian Ave. He was born May 29, 1920 in Perrysville to David Fess Sr. and Alta Smail Zody. Mr. Zody attended Perrysville High School. He retired from General Motors in 1984 after thirty years and worked ten years for the Tappan. He was active in the evening Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the VFW in Perrysville. He belonged to the Mansfield Leiderkranz and the Winnebago Club. Mr. Zody served during WWII in the Army Tank Corp, driving a tank for General Patton.
He is survived by wife, Lillian Kasse Zody, wife of 60 years, whom he married on January 20, 1944; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Kay and Thomas Hull of Elkhart, Indiana and Cynthia Enyart of Mansfield; six grandchildren, David and Connie Hull of Elkhart, Indiana, Brian Gass of Mansfield, Matthew and Amy Maxwell of Texas and Melissa Enyart of Mansfield; one great grandson; one step great granddaughter; one great step grandson; one sister, Catherine Thornburg of Ashland; and five brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Gaylord Zody of Perrysville, Marvin and Juanita Zody of Mansfield, Donald and Jean Zody of Mansfield and Marion and Shirley Zody of Wooster. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert and Henry Zody; one sister, Donna Richard; and one grandson Robert Shane Maxwell.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday January 6, 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. James Winkler. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Union Cemetery in Perrysville, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mansfield Lions Club or Donors choice.
