

Donald Eugene Angel, Sr., 80, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. He died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Angel was born January 13, 1922 in Portsmouth, Ohio residing in Mansfield most of his life. He retired from the Ohio Brass Company in 1984 after 36 years of service. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8586. Don was a loving husband father and grandfather.
Mr. Angel is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy Dotterman Angel; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Heather Angel; daughter, Gladys Darlene Angel Echard; grandchildren, Brett, Jordan, Alexis and Logan Angel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Eddie Bohem of West Haven, Conn., Catherine Rudy of Mesa, Ariz., Clara Combs of New Albany, Ind., Regina and James Smith of Jeffersonville, Ind., Virginia Hancock of Apollo Beach, Fla., Ruth and Richard Lombardi of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Loyd and Shirley Angel of Charlestown, In: Howard Angel and his friend, Paul Goodman of Louisville, Ky.; brother-in-law, Anton Dotterman of Shelby, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family and friends, Dolores and Gene Harris, Barb Baich, P.J. and Maddie, Rubberduck and son, Kathy Vining and family, 'adopted daughter' Melinda Kay-Kay Cole, Hospice of Ashland caregivers Evelyn and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Gladys Angel, mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth Dotterman, sister, Helen Venear, brothers Curtis and Stanley Angel, sister-in-law Liz Graser, brother-in-laws Frank, Tom, Pete, Joe, George, and John Dotterman.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday, April 3, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor F.R. 'Butch' White on Thursday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to North Central Ohio Hospice of Ashland.
