Donald Chaffin

Donald Chaffin, 71, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born March 16, 1936 in Mansfield, he was the son of William and Norma Burke Chaffin. He retired in December 2003 from General Motors after 45 years of service. Donald was affiliated with the Salvation Army. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed showing cars, especially his 1956 Chevrolet.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Clark Chaffin; two sons, Donald K. Cassandra Chaffin and Keith B. Selina D. Chaffin, all of Mansfield; grandchildren, Justin Kaylee Chaffin, Christina Nyhart, Shannon Delaney, and Zackary Ashley MacNamara Chaffin; great-grandchildren, Austin and Alicia Delaney, Taylor and Ethan Smith, and Jaydn Chaffin; two brothers, Ray Virginia Chaffin, and Doug Chaffin, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Otalee Boggs and Doris Parsons, both of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and pals, Annie, Foxy, Midnite and Spot. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the funeral home conducted by Captains Marcus and Joy Jugenheimer. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Boys and Girls Town.
