

Donald F. Dunham, 71, of Ashland, died July 29, 2015. Born September 22, 1943 in Mansfield, he was the son of Robert Willis and Faye Oneta (Powell) Dunham. Don grew up in Mifflin and graduated from Madison High School in 1961. After high school, he joined the submariners in Groton, Connecticut. He attended and graduated from Nuclear Power Engineering School. After 9 years aboard several different submarines, he received an honorable discharge and received the National Defense Service Metal and Navy Good Conduct Metal. After leaving the Navy, he lived in Groton, Connecticut for 23 years and owned his own business. After returning to Mansfield, he had a 25 year career with National Electric as a salesman and then a 5 year career with Wolff Brothers. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, and hunting. He was a member and President of the Shriners Club when he lived in Connecticut.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (Wable) Dunham of Ashland; son, Keith (Janette) Dunham; step-children, Amy (Tim) Hartnett and Rachel (Tim) Carper; grandson, Kevin Dunham; step-grandchildren, Dan Hartnett, Evan Hartnett, Paige Carper, and Chase Carper; brother, Eugene Dunham; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Dunham; and brother, Carl Dunham.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. The family ask that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
