

Donald R. Goetz, 67, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Monday evening April 11, 2005 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born April 16, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Clarence H. and Eleanor Nist Goetz.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Georgia Eby Shank Goetz; three sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Debbie Goetz of Columbus, Craig and Rebecca Goetz of Lexington, and Gary and Cathy Goetz of Ashland; two step children and their spouses, Lori and Jim Ward of Ashland, and Donny and Angie Shank of Nova; 11 grandchildren, Brent, Jessica, Sierra, Landon, Corey, Seth Goetz, Brittany, Breanna, and Tyler Shank, and Gannon and Gerran Ward; one brother, Richard Goetz of Columbus; one sister, Ruth Ann Ninos of Cleveland; and many more friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He lived here since 1971 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Goetz served in the United States Army and retired from Sprint after 22 years. He was a member of the Sons of Herman, and a former member of the Mansfield Jaycee's. Mr. Goetz enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and pool, and he loved his family and enjoyed spending a great deal of time with them. He was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steeler's Fan.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 14, 2005 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Keith McCormack officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Richland County Humane Society.
