
Donald A. Miller, 88, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Samaritan Regional Health Systems. Born August 1, 1922 in Ashland, he was the son of Cloyd and Gertrude Price Miller. Donald was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served two tours aboard the USS Brown and USS Huntington and continued on to be a member of the VFW. He was also a very active member of Grace Brethren Church. Donald enjoyed woodworking, gardening and planting flowers, and collecting rocks. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Leona Barker Miller of Ashland; sons, Richard Lalah Miller and Jerry Helen Miller; daughters, Karen Novak, Jackie Bruce Fisher, and special daughter, Ruth Keefer; grandchildren, Debbie Bob Allenbaugh, Robin Eric Hawks, Jennifer Rick Scott, Edward Sarah Miller, April Mark Shell, Cammie Martinez, Neil Miller, Nathan Miller, Ginger Tim Griffin, Donald Miller, and Katie Miller; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three nephews; and numerous cousins, including Lynda Morris. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Mast and Doris Sidle; brother-in-law, Don Sidle who was more like a brother; and grandson, Jared Knepper.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave, Ashland. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church, 1144 W. Main St., Ashland, conducted by Pastor Norm Johnson. Military graveside services conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will be held at Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Brethren Church.
