
Donald Blaine Ritchey, 67, of Ontario died unexpectedly Saturday June 9, 2007 at home. Donald was born June 19, 1939 in Ashland, Ohio to Luther E. Ritchey Sr. and Dorothy A. Lewis Ritchey Heslep. He retired from General Motors and attended Ontario United Methodist Church. Donald graduated in 1958 from Union Local Schools and was a member of the UAW Union Hall, Masonic Lodge, Penn/Ohio Model A Club and was an avid photographer and a proud life member of the NRA. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Karen M. Smith & Dr. Ross Quinn of California; son, Donald J. Ricker of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, John E. & Michelle Ritchey of Shelby; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly M. & Randy Carder of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Micheala Ricker, Katelyn Ritchey, Kelsey Carder and Steven Ricker; one brother and sister-in-law, Samuel E & Sandra McCracken of Mansfield; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn 'Carrie' & Ron Izer of Mansfield; five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Ricker Ritchey, grandson, John E. Ritchey Jr.; younger brother Lance Corporal Luther E. Ritchey Jr. U.S. Marine Corps, died in Vietnam whose body was recovered 40 years later.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday June 13, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
