

Donna Leah Seidel Beck, 80, of Mansfield, passed away Monday evening, November 28, 2016, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born March 27, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Roland and Vern Seidel.
Donna graduated from Cleveland Lincoln High School in 1954. Knowing the value of a college education, she graduated from Heidelberg College with a Bachelor Degree in 1957, and earned a Master Degree in Education from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Donna worked at Russell Erwine Elementary School in Euclid, Ohio, for a year. She then transferred to Taft Elementary School in Ashland for the next 2 years. She found her permanent place of employment at a combination of Carpenter and Prospect Elementary Schools in Mansfield where she taught for 32 years. Many youngsters benefited from her enthusiasm for learning and her wonderful ability to teach others.
Donna was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority, the National Education Association, and the Ohio Education Association. When she wasn't expanding the minds of the children in her classroom, Donna enjoyed reading and, in her later years, playing golf. She absolutely loved traveling and all the adventures she encountered.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Wesley Beck, whom she married on June 20, 1959; a brother-in-law, Howard Beck; two nieces; a cousin, Dorie Lou Poe; good friends, Ted and Cathy Mitchell; her wonderful caregiver, Danielle Shrewsberry; and many close sorority sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Allen Beck; and numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will observe private services at a later date. Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
