
Dorothy Irene Giles Burton, 68, of Amherst, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at her residence. Born October 27, 1941, in Newton, KS, she was the daughter of Alva Howard and Margery Alta George Giles and was one of 17 children. She had worked for Ames Department Store for 16 years. She enjoyed painting and gardening but her greatest joy were her grandchildren as she loved spending time with them.
Surviving are three daughters, Jackie Tony Messer of Morehead, KY, Margie Joe Pankratz of Amherst and Connie Bennie Coleman of Lorain; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three sisters, Annabelle Mitchell of North Dakota, Connie Smith of Kansas and Carolina Lane of Missouri; four brothers, Howard and Darryl Giles both of Kansas, Edward Giles of Oklahoma and Allan Giles of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Burton; and nine brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield, OH. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Mark Dettmer. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
