

Douglas "Doug" Allen Jacobs, Sr., 72, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born October 28, 1943 in Hobbs, New Mexico, he was the son of Marty and Violet Jacobs.
Doug retired from Dalmatian Fire Inc. after a number of years of service. He really enjoyed fishing and making unexpected purchases from Ebay. Playing computer games and watching sports brought enjoyment to him. He especially liked The Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Cleveland Indians and Browns and NASCAR. He was a member of the Richland County Fish and Game Club, Son's of Amvets and had been a member of the Moose Lodge. A joker at heart, he was a best friend to his loving wife, a great dad and the best grandpa anyone could have. He was always ready to help and a very forgiving person. His presence will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol (Merle) Jacobs whom he married January 22, 1966; two sons, Douglas (Tammy Good) Jacobs, II and Joseph (Michelle) Jacobs all of Mansfield; a daughter, Kimberly (Don) Chaney of Carrollton, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Tyler Jacobs, Donald Chaney, Austin Chaney, Cheyenne Chaney, Adam Chaney, Jessica (Mike) Smith, Abby (Randy) Garretson, Hailey Jacobs, Ethan Jacobs and Laila (Mike) Blackwell; four great grandchildren, Dacota Smith, Seth, Logan and Landon; two brothers, Gary Jacobs and Marty Jacobs; two sisters, Sandy Harper and Pam Milano; his dog, Jake; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Jacobs; an infant brother; and a great granddaughter, Kailynn Smith.
Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
