Duane Lee Tanner

Duane Lee Tanner, better known as Doc, 60, of Ontario passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at Avita Health System, Ontario Hospital from COVID related pneumonia. He was born July 27, 1961 in Sutton, West Virginia, the son of LeRoy and Sylvia (Karbula) Tanner.

Having lived in many places, Doc made Mansfield his home. In 2001, he married Marla Fuller and together they set up housekeeping in a spacious old house on Park Avenue. He and Marla spent the rest of their married life transforming that house into a beautiful home. His pride and joy was the outdoor fireplace. Doc and Marla spent many hours building. They enjoyed inviting family and friends to join them for an evening on their spacious patio for a delicious meal while watching flames from the flickering fire.

Doc took great pride in caring for his mother, Sylvia Karbula and spending time playing Yatzee with her on Sunday afternoons.

Doc spent 35 years in the carpet racket owning his own business for 30 years. Back in the day, he also worked for Snyder Bakery making doughnuts. Doc also worked for the City of Mansfield in liter control and the street department. He also trimmed trees to clear right-of-ways for power lines.

Doc's greatest joy was spending time with his wife and as Marla put it "he was a great husband, we were so good together". A generous slice of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, chocolate ice cream and a handfull of M&M's on top made him a happy camper.

He is survived by his wife, Marla; his mother, Sylvia; his children, Brandon (Miranda) Fisher, Ashleigh (Josh) Coffee, Sarah Tanner and Justin (Tina) Reid; his grandchildren, Serenity, Danial, Wyatt, Emmitt, Vanessa and Serenity; his siblings, Tina Boor, Frank (Alia) Tanner, Shelly Tanner and Shane Metz; and his father's wife, Phyllis Tanner.

In addition to his father, LeRoy Tanner, he was preceded in death by two children, Jared Reid and Jacob Reid; and his siblings, Terry Tanner, Karen Fischer, Dottie Tanner and an infant sister, Diane Tanner.

A Celebration of Doc's life will be held at a later date.
