

Edna "Sis" L. Simmons, 70, of Mansfield, OH died November 9, 2013 after an extended illness. She was born on January 11, 1943 in Gilmer County, West Virginia. Edna graduated Gilmer County High School in 1960. She moved to Mansfield in 1989. Edna was an honest, loving, great lady who enjoyed gardening, canning, and being with her family and friends. In her earlier years, she loved dancing, sewing, and crocheting.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen (Phyllis) Simmons of Weston, WV, George Simmons of Mansfield, and Jeffrey Simmons of Mansfield; three daughters, Victoria Miller of Alberton, PA, Connie (Edward) Simmons-Johnson of Mansfield, and Alice Nicholson of Weston, WV; mother in-law, Gilsie Tenney of Rock Cave, WV; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, John Neal of FL; good friend, Russell Foster of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George; father, Charles Neal; mother, Virginia (Hite) Groah; son, Robert Simmons; brother, Charles Neal; and sister, Kenna Jean Groah.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 5-7p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 1:00p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Upshur County, WV where two additional hours of calling will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family has entrusted Heavner and Cutright Funeral Home of Buckhannon, WV to assist with services in West Virginia.
