

Edward McDanel, 80, of Ashland, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at The Good Shepherd in Ashland. Born April 20, 1935 in Richland County, he was the son of Walter I. and Martha (Greer) McDanel. Edward was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also attended Berean Baptist Church. He worked as a barber for 40 years at both Smith Barbershop and also his own shop in Greenwich in the 1970's. Edward also worked as a security guard for 14 years at Ashland University and retired from MANCI. A well respected man by all, he was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, loved boating, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Newcomer) McDanel of Ashland; sons, Scott McDanel and Ryan McDanel, both of Ashland; grandchildren Jacob Turner and Nichole McDanel; sisters, Joan (Richard) Trease of Lexington, Phyllis (Talmadge) Gee of Roundup, MT, and Sue (Ken) Conaway of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Private family burial will be held in Bellville Cemetery with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
