Elizabeth Bender

Elizabeth Ann Bender, age 93, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 12, 2012 at Mifflin Care Center after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1919 in Mansfield to the late Michael N. and Elizabeth (Knapp) Sauer. She was a graduate of Springfield Township Local School and lived in the Mansfield area her entire life. Elizabeth adored flowers and her beautiful flower gardens were evidence of her passion.

On May 28, 1941, she married Charles W. Bender and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2001.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell W. (Rose) Bender of Mansfield, Ralph E. (Linda) Bender of Mount Gilead and Ken (Pat) Bender of Ontario; a brother, Michael (Betty) Sauer of Overbrook, KS; a sister, Mary Ella (Robert Lee) Greenland of Strongsville; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday, September 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Sondra Snode of Ontario United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
